Strategic Framework Plan

SA Corridors was a collaborative, city-wide effort led by the City of San Antonio’s Planning Department and supported by VIA Metropolitan Transit, to help shape San Antonio’s future development around transit, walking, and biking. It was a study of the 12 corridors in the SA Tomorrow Comprehensive Plan and VIA’s Vision 2040 Plan identified for potential Enhanced Bus, Bus Rapid Transit (BRT), or Light Rail Transit (LRT) investments.

The focus of the SA Corridors Plan was a framework for transit oriented development (TOD) that will help guide City policy and infrastructure investments over the coming decades. As the lead consultant, Fregonese Associates developed a TOD scoring methodology and typology to help the City and its partners track development readiness in existing and future station areas.

Through an extensive outreach process, SA Corridors gathered input from neighborhood associations, service providers, and other key stakeholders. This input was used to develop a future land use plan for each of the 12 study corridors and station area plans for 18 conceptual station areas.
